Blog 2

It seems that a popular trend in today's society seems to be getting out nails done. For the ladies out there who have had this done its is known that we are able to choose designs and colors to decorate our nails. In a way I could have chosen to do nails for each topic of art style/era in this blog. Getting our nails done has reached a new level of artistic expressions. I believe that this image shows a good example of Art Deco in the lines used. Clearly we can see the geometric shapes that this young lady has chosen. The white lines become bold and "pop" with the glitz and glamour of the airbrushed look of the purple and gold nail polish that's been used. The lines on these nails are clean and the nails themselves appear to be elegant. All of the descriptive words can relate to the readings from the beginning blog.
This image is an image of Kat from LA Ink. She is a famous tattoo artist who displays art for a living therefore I find her quite intriguing for this blog. Not only does she express the art, but Kat herself has become a figure of art. This pose is the perfect example of American Kitsch. It appears as a vulgar image that is set off with an old fashion 50's feel due to the hat she wears (in times of war/serving for a purpose) as well as the way the black and white empowers the picture. I also notice the chair in the background which appears to be a rounded piece of furniture. The image itself represents Kitsch art; notice her posture though. Kat's body language is very sexy and seductive. This allows even more of a resemblance of American Kitsch.
The cover of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is obviously represented and psychedelic art work. The expression of many different BOLD colors is a dead-give-away If you happen to have viewed this movie it adds to the fact that this is a "trippy" story. The events of this movie would be similar to those from the hippie era that may have experimented with drugs. You may notice that Johnny Depp has hair that is unusually long for a male figure, he is also wearing bright colors and living in a world known as "fantasy" to most people. The art work in this image looks very bubbly or curvilinear which is also a good reference to psychedelic art.
Digital art is classified as something that looks as though there are layers being used and very poetic. Both of those are represented in the Sundance image above. It clearly shows a date letting us know how modern this piece of art is and with that we can relate the fact that it's digital even more so. It shows a little chaos with the repetition of the information, but that also adds to the poetic realm of this image.
When I saw this image I immediately thought of Victorian Art. This shows a young woman who is portrayed as a figure of beauty and elegance. Her presence in this image also adds balance to the advertisement which is something that was emphasized in the previous blog. Symmetrical layouts are a part of making victorian art work. Another aspect of this image that stands out is the color that was chosen. This article is fairly recent in the respects of the pricing, the logos for the BK sign and the product itself, and to see such an older style of artwork placed in the modern day it just shows a sense of class. It's the same feeling you would get if you were to walk into a victorian style home today and see the staircase, the windows, the crown molding, the arches, and the fancy wall paper and hardwood floors. Those are all things that we don't see in today's homes. These are things that represent an era that has come and gone (but somehow will continue to live on). One last minor detail to this image is the Coca-Cola that you see in the bottom of the advertisement. This was something that was even represented in the previous readings. The flow of the text represents the victorian art 100%.
