Photoshop Assignment

My collage tells a story of my life in a time line form. Each photo in this collage represents me and my life somehow. Starting with the Tennis player picture. My family and I have always been a big tennis fan. I grew up watching tennis with my mom and even tried playing tennis in high school. My family is not that close, but tennis seems to always bring us all together That is why that image is closest to me.

The next one is the image of the mother and daughter in the rain. I was born in Bremerton, Washington. My dad wasn't there when I was born, which I will explain why in my next photo. It is always cloudy and rainy in Washington, that is why there is rain. The mother and daughter obviously represents my mom and I when I was born.

I was a Navy brat growing up, which is why I added the anchor flag. My dad was in the United States Navy for 20 years. He was out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean when I was born. He got flown back to main land and finally got to meet me when I was about a few days old. Not only did he miss my birth, but he's missed many other special occasions. At one point he missed 3 birthdays in a row. I hated him going out to sea all the time. The longest he was gone for was 6 months. I darkened the picture of the flag for a reason. The dark shadyness of the flag represents the sad days growing up without my dad around a lot.

Because my dad was in the Navy, we were stationed in Japan for 14 years, which is what the cherry blossom represents. I am also half Japanese. I feel like cherry blossoms best represent Japan because they are from Japan. Cherry blossom season is the time when it feels like everyone comes together and have picnics under the trees at the cherry blossom festivals.

After my dad retired from the Navy, we moved to good old Cedar Falls, Iowa, which is why I chose corn for my collage. Corn is the Iowa vegetable, and I'm proud of it. I love corn! I can eat it all year long! I also detassled corn for 3 summers, so I like to think I'm a true Iowan.

My cat Nyankochan is my best friend. The cat obviously represents my kitty. We've had him for 8 years now. I actually brought him here all the way from Japan. He makes my family and I very happy. It was a very hard for my family and I when we moved here. My parents always got into fights, my brother couldn't make friends in school, and I was just missing my old home and friends. At the end of the day, just looking at Nyankochan makes my family happy. I don't know, he doesn't really do much, but he makes us all laugh!

Lastly, the ball of yarn the cat is holding. I love to knit! All my friends call me and old lady because of it and plus my name is Nana. I have a huge collection of scarves because that is all I really make. It helps me keep busy. I've been knitting for about 4 years now. Growing up, I never really had a hobby that require talent. Now that I know how to knit, I feel very talented! These images are very important to me, and I hope you guys enjoyed my little adventure through my time line!
