It is not appealing to all and can be over the top to some. Also, the mistakes that we make in our developments can only help us to produce stronger images and teach us along the way. One step is to clearly explain navigation through out our homepages because a large amount of the population is not internet savvy.
The Onextrapixel article emphasized staying on top of internet technology, and web design graphics so not to fall behind. The next best thing is always important because web design is such a competitive career which is constantly changing. If your skills fall behind they represent the web sites you build. No one will want a web designer who is not on top of their game and creating new age websites. Also, when you post your work online, you then become susceptible to cyber bullying. It all comes with the job and is a risk you take once you post your work online for others to criticize. So help your page become more attractive, balance your features.
Sex sells. Sexy articles and advertisements are becoming more acceptable and are always turning heads and grabbing people's attention. Use artistic taste however, don't sell your work short with overdoing the whole grabbing attention thing. Set limits, but create a focus. Giving yourself a deadline is crucial, and using your elements tastefully can great a very attractive design leading to an attractive website.
