My Collage

In my collage, I have many different random items that all mean so many things to me.  I think one of the first things that catches your eye is the red high heel shoe in the center of the picture.  This shoe, to me, represents fashion and being a woman.  Although when at work or school , im usually just wearing jeans and a t-shirt.  So, this high heel shoe represents my weekends off from work/school when I can actually get dressed up and express my feminism.   The next item, is the shamrock with the dancing kid in it.  I am only quater Irish, but this represents my love for that heritage.  I go to the Iowa Irish Fest in Waterloo every year to celebrate, and I of course celebrate on St. Patricks Day! My mothers madden name is McCaskey and I love that I have this connection with my family and from where they came from.  I think the next item to catch your eye is the pirate holding the soccer ball.  This represents two things to me; my love for soccer, and my high school (where we were the Hudson Pirates).  I played soccer for 12 years, all through first grade to my senior year of high school.  Soccer was a big part of my life because I found a sport that I really liked and that I was pretty good at.  It was so much fun, and miss it so much.  I wish I still had time to play an adult league.  And then the pirate reminds me of high school and all the fun times I had there with my friends.  We were proud to be pirates and sometimes really wish I could go back to those much simpler times. 
The next thing is the circus tent.  I remember when I was younger my parents took me to the Barnum and Bailey Circus.  It was so much fun being there and being with my family.  I was really young when we went there, so I think it's one of my first major memories from when I was little.  I colored part of it purple because purple is my favorite color.  To me it shows being girly and it's color of UNI.  Next is the picture of the flower I'm holding.  I love being outdoors and I love helping my mom with her flower gardens around our house.  Flowers with bright bold colors attract me the most, because they just scream attention.  The cow represents my life in the country and how I want to have my own house out there some time.  I'm not a city person.  The little girl reading represents my love for reading recreational books.  I love reading and wish I had more time to but school and work consume a lot of my time.  The school in the distance represents going to college and trying to make something out of myself.  The butterfly and the bird both represent nature and being free.  Im a very independent person and these two items help display that.  The fish jumping into the water represents every year when my family goes on our anual Canada fishing trip for a week.  I look forward to the next years vacation as soon as we leave to head back home.  Its such a beautiful and peaceful place.  And then the back ground is something I found from an asian article.  My best friend is Japanese and so the background represents her and her being a big part in my life.  Someone I can always lean on and know will be there. Just like a background, you're always going to have one no matter what.
