The graphics of the site Smashing Magazine are creatively done but in my opinion lack the curb appeal to drawn me in, this is not to say they may not draw others in. The simplisity of cartoon caricatures can be skillfully employed in video applications but rather mundane unless applied in a mazagine format and then still needs a "hook".
The site options I found to be most appealing where those presented on OneExtraPixel. Attached herewith are two which through compelling photgraphy, depth of field, correct type face/size and the effective use of the rule of thirds brought clear attention to the messages to be conveyed.
The Web Development layout was very effective. The use of competion, speed, perserverance, rule of thirds, depth of field... pulled you in with a clear message. I am writting a book on the subject of Digital Darwinism... stay on top or get left in the dust!
The terimnator style ad copy is another in your face attention grabber, the effective use of threatening imagery, type face and left to right eye scan draws you into the message. Cyber Bullying, many of the "cyber bullies" use "grey boxes" to hide their real ISP and make their identity untraceable...
The image examples I was going to attach gave me error messages "incorrect format", not a big deal, just a upload issue...
