This t-shirt and popular logo for the band Radiohead is an example of digital graphic design, because while the font and colors are clean and computer-oriented, it still looks purposefully messy. The layout of the shirt goes against normal composition, making it a little more difficult to read. The basis of digital graphic design, to push boundaries and use digital software to alter font sizes and shapes dramatically, agrees well with this logo. (Link.)

This album cover for Lady Gaga's "Telephone Remixes" is reminiscent of popular 50's art, also known as American Kitsch. Even the telephones, both on Lady Gaga's head and in her hand, are classic examples of the geometric and curvy phone styles popular in the 1950's. Both singers are dramatically posed, and the font is boldly scripted. This is an example of American Kitsch
because of the melodramatic qualities of each element in the design: the bright colors, shadows behind the photos, and eye-catching poses. (Link.)

The geometric shapes and simple design of this iPod ad exemplify the ideas of Swiss/International graphic design. This style places extreme emphasis on shapes and abstraction, and silhouette of the woman as well as the colored boxes fit the criteria. Although there isn't much activity in the design, the simplicity makes it appear organized and allows the viewer to focus on the product. (Link.)

This album cover for Flared's "Debuten" demonstrates the psychadelic design styles: the cut-out style of the woman, contrasting colors, and her long "hippie" hair with a strong, flowering texture. Curvatures are often used with this graphic design style, and the font as well as the graphic utilizes this technique. In addition, the font is purposefully made illegible. The cover accurately demonstrates all of the popular methods to make an image appear psychadelic and "trippy." (Link.)

This eccentric and punk-inspired promo for the film "RENT" is an example of post-modern graphic design, and showcases characteristics like collaging, messy colors and shadows, and edgy design in general. The layout is very grid-like, but the other elements of the design disrupt the balance and give it a more playful feel. The different textures applied to the photographs as well as the collage layout make this design a prime example of post-moderism. (Link.)
