"...we are all competing with each other." This quote from oneextrapixel.com pretty much says it all when it comes to design. If your designs aren't good enough, trust that someone else will be happy to step into your position and create something that kicks your project out the door.
At first, this was somewhat discouraging to me. When I see industry professionals relaying information that the graphic design field is fast paced and extremely competitve, it kind of makes me feel like there's hardly a chance for a 'green' designer. Then I found the next quote from a link.
"As designers, our ideal audience are those individuals who understand us the most because they are just like us." -- sixrevisions.com
I think this quote gives so much more hope to aspiring artists. Creativity is a huge part of artistry, but thinking about the audience and their desires is what will make you successful. If you can relate to your audience, chances are you will create something that will appeal to them. They like the looks of your design, they will buy the product you're selling. They buy it, you get paid. If this series happens enough, eventually a reputation will be built, and success is much more likely.
