My image says it all. It's very reflective of the some of my biggest passions in life. The images I chose to use are reflective of what I take pride in doing. Some of these are dancing, music, film, motorcycles, running, tattoos, religion, family, but most of all my little girl. We have lots of fun together and although I have been busy with school since day one she has been my little light at the end of the tunnel with every journey I take.
I have made several images more bold, I've made some of them flow with other images, some images were placed in certain areas, and some were emphasized by color. I played around with the opacity of images quite a bit and I worked with the selection tools also. I battled what to keep in and what to eliminate. This project looked overly cluttered and didn't reflect anything i learned in some of the most recent readings we have read. I decided to tone it down and take out a few things. I thought about adding more color but i didn't enjoy it as much as i do this collage. This was the winner!
I chose the runner in the background because it is one thing that i feel helps me be free from everything and anything. Running was my thing all through my athletic career. I went to state twice in high school before i ended up having my little girl and i had to forfeit my junior and senior year. I do most of my running now just as a leisurely activity. I just saw running as the basis of whats gotten me through.
I have the motorcycle on there with the Kawasaki logo in honor of my dad. I was a daddy's girl growing up. My parents divorced when i was young and i took to my dad a lot better than anybody else in the family. Soon it was my dad and older brother all alone and i was taking up some of their hobbies. One of those hobbies happened to be bikes. Every year my dad and i take the bikes out while the leaves are changing and we head toward the Mississippi River. It's one of thee best trips of the year.
A few other images that you may see are the tattoos, the dancing, and the film roll. I received my first tattoo about 2 years ago and i told myself i had to go big or go home. Since then i have a new fascination. Dancing has always been a part of who i am. I love to dance for competition or just for fun. Lastly, film is a huge passion. I have always wanted to have a camera in my hands. I doubted myself taking on the major at first due to having a little one. I didn't know if i would be available as much as she would need me to be, but i finally got sick of being bored with marketing and advertising and i tackled my true passion. Now i find myself more interested in my topic of study, and i have a lot more time to spend with Lexi due to the flexibility i have within my schedule. -TM
